I’m moving to Japan, next year. And I currently have a job. Can I convert US Dollars to Yen? And where? Because, Yen is a low currency, then a Dollar so I could easily by an Apartment, and settle.

I will be moving to Japan shortly. I will need to exhange 2000 dollars to yen. Google tells me it is about 18,000 yen, but the bank says they will give me 16,000 yen. Why is this? I feel cheated.
I meant 180,000 and 160,000 yen

My sister is moving to Japan in March, I wanted to know if they use US Dollars or Yen or both on the base? Whats the best way to send money if I wanted to?

plz? I may be moving to Japan so I need to know how it is currently ^^

I am wondering if anyone has a strong opinion or knowledge of currency conversion.

As I am moving to Japan directly from China, I wonder if I should convert my Chinese RMB directly to Japanese Yen, and if so should I handle the transaction in China or Japan?

Or perhaps should I convert the Chinese Yuan to American Dollar while I am in China, then change the Dollar to Yen once I arrive in Japan.

Many countries give horrible rates for anything but the dollar and their own currency, so I’m wondering if this also occurs in Japan or if they give favorable rates for the RMB?

So say you are moving to Japan and you a lot of money. Where do you go to exchange your money to yen and how much can you do at once? Say you had a million dollars, could you exchange all that into yen and then go to Japan with it? If not then whats the limit? Also i doubt that you could carry all your money on a plane so what woudl you do witht he money so that you;d have it when yuo reach Japan?
