The gold standard is obsolete and was abandoned by most countries before WW II, because it contributed significantly to the Great Depression in the 1930s. The last remnant of the Gold Standard was the Bretton Woods currency system which collapsed in 1971. Since then there is no country or currency which is using the gold standard.
