return of….people in the government focus more on one than the other….so much talk about Iraq and this damn surge…No one I know cares about that in the least bit.
I’m not doing bad…I just don’t use myself as a guideline to what the majority of everyone else is feeling…..that would be my attempt to shake the selfish title off.

Because the media is being used by powerful people. Americans sat back and watch as the television and print media were gobbled up by a small group of elites. The country was told of the virtues of capitalism, so they sat back and watch their freedoms being sold for cheap; and thought it was good. Whenever one entity controls the press, they determine what the nation knows…and judging the current climate, the nation does not know a darn thing.
The two issues are not related and therefore not comparable. We need to get unemployment down and at the same time get a out of Iraq leaving behind a stable government.
Edit: Reading the question and your additional details, I’m not surprised that your circle of friends would be incapable of discussing the matter.
Our jobless rate is still at 5% or a little over. Considering that 4.5% is considered full employment where we are at is not too bad. Most American’s are like us, selfish. I am doing well sorry you aren’t. I don’t think raising taxes to give ever more money to people who are not willing to work is the answer. Extending unemployment benefits is enough for right now. The only thing I would like to see added to unemployment is a little more money for reeducating or retraining of the folks that need it to find a new and better job. Just throwing more money at the problem without changing the system is not going to help. All that being said I will be voting for John McCain in November.
