Is the US dollar be stronger against the British pound by Sept 2008?
I’ve been living in Scotland for the past four years and the dollar has been really weak compared with when I first went there six years ago – around or over .00 to the pound as compared with .60 – .75 in 2001. I’ll be leaving the UK in Sept 2008 and am wondering if the dollar will be stronger against the pound then with the political changes going on at that time in the US, or if it’s likely to get even weaker. Thanks!

You have to measure what uk buys from USA and what uk sells to uk. This will tell you how much money in dollars and pounds are transferred between both countries. Most changes in currency values are due to trade, financial or commercial. Governments or political changes can alter the trade equilibrium. If uk sales are greater than purchases, uk will get more dollars and dollars will fall down. If uk buys more to the usa, pounds will leave the country and pound will rise.
I would suggest that the US$ is only going to get weaker. As it stands, the economy is on very shakey ground, but with all this debt incurred for this war…the country is in for a major correction! Wait til 09/08 to exchange your currency…I would think that you will get far more bang for your buck at that time!
