How do I get British pound £ and Euro € symbols on Windows 2000 from keyboard?
Just to clarify – I do not have £ symbol on my keyboard over 3 key, if I did, I would not ask the question here ![]()
I want to be able to write these symbols quickly on internet, writing emails etc (not in Word).
I have laptop IBM T30. Alt 0128 does not work.

Windows 2000 should have them; previous versions need patch to be downloaded from microsoft.
need to know if you are using a package or just the operating system.
Don’t think it is possible unless you change your keyboard mapping.
I’d stick to copying it off websites.
Well, if you’re using MS Word you can go to Insert>Symbol and then a bunch of symbols will pop up and pick the one you want.
win XP and 2000 are almost the same….. in the insert of the screen point to the symbol; then to the times new roman…
u can have ur own shrot cut keys that u want… try to to it…..
It’s easy.
Go to start…..all programmes……accessories……system tools..character map and copy the symbols you require into your document
At any time, the £ symbol is above the 3 on a normal keyboard – just use shift 3!
In word, For the euro symbol, click on insert, then on symbol and a table of different symbols you can use will appear.
You will see on the right hand side there is something that says ‘subset’ revealing another drop-down bit. One of these says ‘currency symbols’ – this gives lots of different currencies, including the € symbol.
Hope this helps – and you can now use the € and £!
I’d run charmap (start -> Run -> charmap) and copy and paste from there onto your program.
€, alt-0128
£, alt-0163
Press shift and 3 together for the pound sign. press Alt Gr and 4 for the euro sign. But u already seem to know that, as you have typed them just now1, ££££££….€€€€€€€
£ should be shift-3 if keyboard language is UK-English;
€ is ctrl-alt-4 or alt gr-4
£€$€$€

Heya! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any problems with hackers?
My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing months of hard
work due to no backup. Do you have any solutions to prevent hackers?
