Hi all,

I bought something off ebay from the UK and the seller doesn’t do paypal and won’t accept any type of money order in US dollars. She only wants an international money order in GB pounds sterling. I have been to the bank, who suggested Harris Teeter who sells Western Union int’l money orders. When I went there, they told me they only did them in US currency. So I called up the post office, who said the same. The guy at the bank said they could order me an int’l money order in a different currency but I need to pay the seller asap and can’t wait a week or however long it’ll take.

Is there anywhere in charlotte, nc that sells int’l money orders in different currencies? My only other option is to send cash in the mail, and I really don’t want to have to do that…

Thanks!
Katie

Hey guys, I need a little help here.

since the formula to convert pip profit in $ is: "pip profit/ loss * lot size * tick size", the profit, in $, should have been (with a pip worth )

Before Sudan adopted the Sudanese pound, their old currency was something like 1000 to 1 Euro. Since they changed it, its now 3 to the Euro. But how can a country just change their currency like that and have that currency highly valued?

it went up a penny
im more happy that it goes up a penny than go down a penny.

It is my understanding that in 1918 the British Pound was basically the ‘World Currency’ or at least was valued more than the US Dollar. In what year did the US Dollar take over and surpass the British Pound in the world?

THIS IS A REAL QUESTION: I am referring to the book wrote by David Murrin named "Breaking The Code Of History".

This happen BEFORE World War 2, I’d like to know when it happen.

I am a British taxpayer, currently living in Ireland, I have not worked while I’ve been here and will be working for an Irish company in the UK. Should I register in Ireland for tax or continue paying tax in the UK? I won’t be staying in Ireland long term. Any tips on tax "avoidance" welcome.

The Euro has been more valuable than the USD for quite a while now, but does this actually mean that the European economy is doing better? People always speak of a "strong dollar" or a "strong euro", and as far as fluctuations go, it obviously makes sense that a stable currency would be a prerequisite for a stable economy.

But does the actual ratio mean anything besides that Europeans can travel to the United States and have more money to spend than they would in the EU? It seems to me having a more valuable currency can be as much of a hindrance as an advantage, as it would cost more to produce things there, and the overall cost of life would be higher – you’d be paying more money for the same product.

I remember my economics professor in the one ECB class that I ever took (torture) talked about currency ratios, and how it’s one of the most complicated things ever because there’s many difference scenarios – for instance pegged currencies are basically the same currency they’re pegged to – whether 1 euro equals 1.5 or 1500 of whatever currency is pegged to it, the only difference is that the bills have a few extra zeroes on them and look different but other than that it’s the same.

In the case of EUR vs USD though, it’s a fluctuating ratio rather than just a numeral difference. Like, we could decide to add three zeroes to the dollar and make 1 USD = 1000 USD, and as long as we changed absolutely everything accordingly it wouldn’t make a difference at all, but when there’s a fluctuating ratio then it matters.

Anyways, back to the original question – does it matter for the economies of the EU or the US which currency is more valuable and if it does – how and which scenario would be best for the US or the EU?
