I’m currently in San Francisco without any Bank account and I am no resident of the US. means I can’t appy for a bank account. So how much would it cost me to exchange American dollars to British pounds at HSBC? or any other bank which is the cheapest to exchange. Please Help me!

This might be a stupid question, but I’m studying abroad in London right now and I’m going to Paris for the weekend, can I use my British Pounds there? Or am I going to have to exchange them for Euros?

I was wondering with the whole issue in the news with China pegging its yen to the US dollar and manipulating it currrency, if they were to form a common currency would that benefit both US and China? If so, how? Is that even possible to do?
